Mis favoritos: my favorites

“People travel to wonder at the height of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars; and they pass by themselves without wondering.”
-St. Augustine

-Helen Keller

“As a single footstop will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kinds of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives." -Thoreau

" Your problem is to bridge the gap which exists between where you are now and the goal you intend to reach."
-Earl Nightingale

Villa Olimpica: Olympic Village

So, I slept through the alarm once again...that's what happens about halfway through the semester when you get a bit worn out, I guess. No worries, though, I had set it way early to try to get up and do some work before class, but instead just went at the usual time. Today was really beautiful...a perfect day for Villa Olimpica where the athletes stayed and whatnot during the Olympic games in Barcelona in '92. Our assignment was another photography one, and my area was the entry to the village. It's interesting because it is meant to be a facade for the olympic village, but to me it reads as very flat and typical. I feel like instead it should have reflected the use of the vilage as many nations coming together. Oh well. I also think in a way that instead of welcoming people in, it acts as a barrier because the facade is continuous for a very long span. Either way, I really enjoyed the village and I appreciate the attempts made to create great spaces for the people using it.
